here has been mixed reaction of various countries after the conclusion of the sixth ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) at Hong Kong. The 149 members of developed and developing countries who participated in the proceedings celebrated their victories. However, the fact remains that the developing countries have not been able to achieve any concrete results as expected.The biggest success of the ministerial meeting is that it has been able to producera a unanimous declaration which reflects a strong desire among all members of the WTO to pursue the Doha Development Agenda in the times to come. The actual results of the WTO in future discussions can be gauged only after some time, but the need to continue under the WTO auspices has been given due importance than the rutt of regional arrangements and free-trade agreements which are gaining ground among the South Asian countries including India.

PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig offers to quit from Lok Sabha
JAMMU: Senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baigtoday offered to resign from the Lok Sabhain the wake of attack over his statement on rehabilitation of West Pakistan refugees in Jammu and Kashmir and for favouring party's alliance with BJP.
He said he had written to PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, saying if his intentions are "suspected", his letter of resignation from Parliament should be forwarded to Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
"There has been a whisper campaign that I am pushing for an alliance between BJP and PDP because I would like to get some personal benefit out of it.
"I have made it clear to both the BJP emissary as well as PDP leadership that I express my views without any desire or agenda to secure any political position," said the former Deputy Chief Minister in a four-page statement here.
