Katsuhiro YAMAGUCHI
Born in in Tokyo, Yamaguchi Katsuhiro throughout his career explored the artistic possibilities of a variety of new media. As such, he has proved to be of lasting impact on Japanese modern art. Yamaguchi enrolled in in at the Law School of Nihon University, however, in the same year he also founded Shichiyokai (“Seven-Days-a -Week Association”) with Shozo Kitadai, Hideko Fukushima and others, an art association where Yamaguchi contributed abstract painting. He participated in the 1st Yomiuri Independent Exhibition of , and the Modern Art Exhibition of the same year. He also served as one of the founding members of Seiki no Kai (“Century Association”), together with painter Tatsuo Ikeda and the art critic Shin’ichi Segi. In , a collective including Yamaguchi, Kitadai, Fukushima as well as the composer Toru Takemitsu and the critic/poet Kuniharu Akiyama founded the influential art group Jikken Kobo.
