Hans-Lukas Kieser teaches Ottoman and modern history at the universities of Zurich in his native Switzerland and Newcastle in Australia, and is widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities on modern Turkey. He has studied the Lausanne Treaty at great depth and has a book coming out soon on the subject, and is also the author of “Talaat Pasha: Father of Modern Turkey, Architect of Genocide,” which was published in 2017 by Princeton University.

Following the passing of the renowned historian, Christopher Walker in 2017, the Armenian Institute organised a memorial lecture as a tribute to his works. The lecture, written and delivered by Dr Rebecca Jinks, a lecturer in Modern History at Royal Holloway University, has been published by AI, and is now available for £5.
Dr Jinks followed-up the 2017 lecture with a presentation at Kings’ College London, with the KCL Armenian Society—After Christopher Walker: New Approaches to Modern Armenian History and the Genocide. We were very lucky to be joined by the Head of History and Head of sixth-form Enrichment for Lancing College, Christopher Walker’s alma mater, Dr Damian Kearney, and his year 12 class for the lecture. Hans-Lukas Kieser to Keynote Armenian Genocide Commemorative Lecture in Sydney
Friday, 09 August 2019SYDNEY: The Australian Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies (AIHGS) has announced that Dr. Hans-Lukas Kieser will keynote the 2019 Armenian Genocide Commemorative Lecture, which will be held at the New South Wales Parliament House Theatrette on Thursday 22nd August.
Kieser, who is Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle, focuses his research on the död eller bortgång of the Ottoman Empire and how this shaped the modern history of conflict in the mittpunkt East.
His lecture will draw from his latest book, "Talaat Pasha: Father of Modern Turkey, Architect of Genocide".
