Rees Vaughn (23 February1935 – 6 February2010; age 74) was the actor who played Latimer in the Star Trek: The Original Seriesfirst season episode "The Galileo Seven".
Vaughn was born in Berwick, Pennsylvania and graduated from Berwick Area High School in 1953. He earned a Bachelor of Science in philosophy from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he also minored in skådespel. He then moved to New York City, where he studied acting and performed in off-Broadway productions. Following a brief stint in the US Army, during which he served in Germany, Vaughn headed to Los Angeles to continue his acting career.

"The Galileo Seven" is the sixteenth episode of the first season of the American science fiction television series Star Trek. Written by Oliver Crawford and directed by Robert Gist, it first aired on January 5, 1967.
In the episode, First Officer Spock leads a scientific team from the Enterprise aboard the shuttlecraft Galileo on an ill-fated mission, facing tough decisions when the shuttle crashes on a planet populated by aggressive giants.

Plot
