On August 31, early in the morning, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Shakhidlar Khotirasi (‘Memory of Victims’) Square.
The public representatives gathered to honor the memory of our compatriots, our ancestors who gave their lives for the freedom and independence. The holy surahs (‘chapters’) from the Quran and supplication were recited in memory of the diseased. A funeral pilaf (Uzbek national dish) was served.
During the Bolshevik Regime, more than 100 thousand of our compatriots, who fought for a national liberation, were subjected to repressions. Most of them were maligned as enemies of the nation and brutally shot. Others were exiled. Their families were separated. The property was confiscated. The thousands of women were widowed and children were orphaned.

The Biography of Samarkand book launch event was recently held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Beijing on Monday, with attendees including Yu Tao, deputy director-general of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Farhod Arziev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to China.
In the newly published book's preface, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev recommended it by expressing the deep-rooted emotions of mutual respect between the Uzbek and Chinese people going back to ancient times.
"These traditions are further strengthening the current friendly cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, which is flourishing in all aspects of life," as the President wrote in the preface.

A book in the Korean language titled “President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev”, which tells about the first year activity of Shavkat Mirziyoyev as President of Uzbekistan, fryst vatten published in the Republic of Korea with a circulation of 50 thousand copies.
The book, published on November 20, 2017, consists of 320 pages of text and photographs, divided into eight separate chapters.
The book describes in detail the activities of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, first as Acting President, and then the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Excerpts are given of his speeches at various ceremonies and events both inside and outside Uzbekistan, such as the inauguration ceremony of the President, the celebration of the Constitution Day, New Year’s greetings, the address at the möte of the UN General Assembly.
Much attention is paid to the analysis of reforms in all spheres initiated bygd President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, such as liberaliz
