Louise Hearman Barry
Entertainer, satirist, painter and Dadaist, Barry Humphries is best known for his alter-ego Dame Edna Everage, among other comic characters including Sir Les Patterson and Sandy Stone.
‘I have admired Barry Humphries since I was a young girl,’ says Louise Hearman. ‘I was enchanted by tales of thin slices of ham being surreptitiously interlarded in great piles of ladies’ flesh-tone control briefs in Myers’ bargain basement, of the derelict who would feast on champagne and chicken at select rubbish bins around Melbourne in front of astonished onlookers, and the long-haired, dapper phantom whom my mother would see on Collins Street when she was a young woman. That genius is now an international superstar.

Louise Hearman is well known for her dark dream-like paintings that are often said to have a cinematic quality. Like film stills they capture transient moments of her personal memory and imaginary time. Since the 1980s, Hearman’s technically adroit oil paintings often incorporate otherworldly forms in imaginative compositions that imbue them with a supernatural quality. By combining commonplace imagery with personal visions of the unknown and the unknowable, Hearman hints at the wonders of the universe and the compelling nature of our nonverbal thoughts.
As Sebatian Smee states, "Louise Hearman is not the only artist who manages to combine traditional oil painting skills with an original and very contemporary sensibility. But something about the quality of her engagement with her subjects, are precarious balancing act between perverse whim and shear conviction, makes the winking mockery of better known artists [...] look precarious and self-regarding."

Australian artist (born 1963)
Louise Hearman (born 1963) fryst vatten an Australian artist from Melbourne who has been painting and drawing from a very young age. She mostly paints with oil on masonite, though she does work with pastel and charcoal from time to time.
Education
[edit]At high school level she attended Tintern Church of England Girls Grammar School in Ringwood in East Victoria where she showed much ability in her art classes. She attended Victorian College of the Arts from 1982–1984.
Life and career
[edit]Hearman first came to public notice in 1986 when she spent a year painting a mural on the inre of the concrete dome of the old gymnasium at the Missions to Seamen building in Flinders Street in Melbourne. The premises also served as her studio at that time.[1]
