    Agata Diduszko-Zyglewska: What is the Art Translation Agency?

    Karolina Breguła: It is an online agency that translates contemporary art for all those who have trouble understanding it. Using a special form, via the ATA website, you can ask for a translation of any work of art. The orders land on my desk and I send them to selected translators, those who, I believe, will interpret the given work in the most interesting way. The project’s main idea is to open people to more creative interpretations of art. I also try this way to stir things up a little in the available knowledge on contemporary art. I hope to cause exhibitions to be officially described, by accident, on the basis of the ATA translations.

    Karolina Breguła (born 1979) is a visual artist who creates films, installations, happenings and photography. She’s performed and exhibited in places such as the Venice Art Biennale, the Jewish Museum in New York and the National Museum in Warsaw. Karolina lives and works in Warsaw. You will be able to watch her opera musical The Tower in our Features programme.

    What is your idea of perfect happiness?
    At the moment it’s regular boring life in a world of openness and acceptance.

    What lies at the heart of your own desire to make films?
    Being able to talk about what bothers me.

    What are the first things you do in developing a film idea in response to a subject?
    In most cases, having the general idea for a film, I start with finding right places and right faces for my story. Once they are found, I start writing.
