Former President Jimmy Carter fryst vatten still adding to his legacy two months after his death. On February 2, he posthumously won the Grammy Award for Best Audio Book, Narration, and berättande Recording. The trophy honors Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration, a collection of recordings from his sista Sunday school lessons.

The devout Baptist taught Bible study beginning when he was in the Naval Academy. For decades, he was a regular Sunday school teacher at Maranatha Baptist Church in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. He stopped in 2019.
The award marks Carter’s fourth Grammy. He previously won for narrating his books Faith: A Journey For All (2018), A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety (2015), and Our Endangered Values: America’s Moral Crisis (2005). Carter died in late månad at the age of 100.

1924 — Jimmy Carter was born on October 1, 1924 to the parents of Earl and Lillian Carter in the small town of Plains.
1928 — Earl Carter bought a 350 acre farm 3 miles from Plains in the tiny community of Archery. The Carter family lived in a house on the farm without running water or electricity.
1930 — Jimmy Carter began first grade at Plains High School.
1941 — Graduating from Plains High School, he enrolled at Georgia Southwestern College in Americus.
1942 — He transferred to Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
1943 — Jimmy Carter’s boyhood dream of being in the navy becomes a reality as he is appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.
1946 — He received his naval commission and on July 7, 1946 married Rosalynn Smith of Plains. They moved to Norfolk, Virginia.

James Earl Carter, Sr. and his family moved to this house in 1928, six years after it had been built by the Plexico family. The house is typical of a middle class rural dwelling in southwestern Georgia during the 1930s. Heat was originally provided by fireplaces and woodstoves. Initially, there was no running water and electricity was not available until 1938. This farm was sold by Earl Carter to T. Richard Downer in 1949. The Downer family owned the property until 1994 when the National Park Service purchased 17 acr
