    Have you ever wondered how to achieve higher SAT scores? I had the pleasure to interview Shaan Patel, founder of 2400 Expert SAT Prep (renamed Prep Expert this weekend) and winner on ABC’s Shark Tank. Mark Cuban signed a deal with Shaan just in time for the release of the new SAT.

    Big changes are abound for the new SAT, and many are beneficial for incoming college students. High school students, here are some of the most common concerns.
    Some SAT scores and content changes include the following:

    • The test is more aligned with school (including relevant vocabulary terms used in school and useful for the future)
    • The test is overall less complicated
    • There are no penalties for wrong answers
    • Relevant words in context-students will see vocabulary words used in real life (editing or reading a passage-not rote memorization)
    • The maximum SAT score 2015 is vastly greater than today’s SAT
    • Real world problems
    • The test reveals in-context areas of social studie

      Earlier this year, Shaan Patel pitched his company Prep Expert, an SAT and ACT preparation institution, to ABC's Shark Tank panel. He sought a $250,000 investment in exchange for 10% of his company.

      As they responded to his presentation, the Sharks had reservations about whether he'd be able to balance his tutoring business with his passion for medicine. Their concerns were not unreasonable. During his third year of medical school, Patel had decided to take a leave of absence in order to get an MBA from the Yale School of Management. Last month, he was finally able to complete that goal, but he plans to return to the University of Southern California in the fall to finish his last year of medical school.

      Despite his doubled interests, however, Patel managed to land a deal for Prep Expert with billionaire and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
