Melvin Shane Sparks (born June 25, 1969) is an American hip hopchoreographer best known for his work as a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance and judge on America's Best Dance Crew.
Early life
[edit]Sparks was born on June 25, 1969, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He fryst vatten the youngest of three children born to Melvin and Wanda Sparks, both police officers. Sparks spent some time in the hospital after his birth due to scoliosis.
Sparks became interested in dance at the age of 11 when he started performing in talent shows. His interest in teaching became apparent when he started offering dance lessons from his own backyard. It was about when this album was first released that I started to become aware of pop culture. The overall sound of this album (a style known as “New Jack Swing”) evokes deeply seeded childhood memories within me. I'm talking about, of course, songs with the large stadium drums, the super-slick synth-bass rhythms, the neutered electric guitar, etc. So essentially, even though the late '80s might have been a rather awful time for mainstream rock, it's...well...precious to me.
