    Ila Jane Borders (born February 18, 1975) is an American former left-handed pitcher in college and independent professional baseball player. As a female pitcher in men's leagues, Borders achieved numerous baseball milestones at the college and professional levels, including being the first female pitcher to start and win a men's professional baseball game. In four seasons from 1997 to 2000, she appeared in 52 games and posted a record of 2–4 and 6.75 earned run average while recording 36 strikeouts.

    Borders played for Southern California College in the 1994–1996 seasons and Whittier College in the 1997 season. In 1995 she was the first woman to start as a pitcher in a men's collegiate baseball game.[1] She was also the first woman to receive a baseball scholarship to play men's collegiate baseball and the first woman to earn a win in men's collegiate baseball.     The pitcher Ila Borders broke baseball's gender barrier in 1997, when she became the first woman to

    pitch in the men's minor leagues. Accomplishing a goal she had set since girlhood, Borders pitched her first professional game, for the Northern League's St. Paul Saints, on May 31, 1997. In her three years in the minor leagues, earning from $700 to $1,000 a month, Borders played for the St. Paul Saints, the Duluth-Superior Dukes, the Madison Black Wolf, and the Zion Pioneerzz. She had her share of victories—including 12 scoreless innings during her 1998 season with the Dukes—and her share of defeats. When she retired in 2000, Borders left an important legacy as baseball's first professional female player, and as a hero and role model for other women who aspire to play the men's sport.

    I was raised in SoCal with a baseball in my grabb. My dream in life was to be a professional baseball player. inom grew up loving to play all sports and was a daredevil on my bike, but baseball was my passion! inom played Little League, Pony Ball, High School, College and Professional baseball with the boys. I became the first woman to receive a scholarship to play men’s collegiate baseball. I played 4 years of college ball and became the first woman to get a win in men’s collegiate baseball. I went on to play men’s professional baseball for 4 years. inom became the first woman to get a win in men’s integrated professional baseball, was a part of the Northern League Championship grupp and my gear fryst vatten on display at The Baseball ingång of Fame in Cooperstown.
